Here’s the word about groove states live performance at the groovy Regatta hotel in Brisbane Australia. written by By Natalie Rapisarda
Live @ the Regatta Hotel, Brisbane Australia 12/03/08
Every year there is always a prediction as to who’s going to be the next big break through artist to burst onto radio airwaves and take the charts by storm.
This year the prediction is Groove State, their new song Disco Disco has already proven successful in the United States reaching the Top 20 Club Chart hits and achieving Top 20 on Australian dance radio airplay charts.
Groove State made their Australian debut taking centre stage for a live performance of their latest hit Disco Disco at the Brisbane Regatta Hotel’s Truly Scrumptious Uk club night. The group consists of vocalist Lisjana and DJ producer Deep G, who between the two have years of experience rocking dance clubs around the globe.
Together they kicked off the show with their upbeat electro track Get Down Tonight, instantly turning heads and surprising the usual Wednesday night crowd. The room had definitely taken a warming to blonde leading lady Lisjana’s strong stage presence, bubbly personality and powerful voice.
Sharing the stage were also two back up dancers. Both added incredible energy to the overall performance dressed in hot pants, fluro tights and fishnet stockings, and who couldn’t forget the bright blue bob wigs. Definitely a standout! There is no questioning their in sync moves encouraged dance circles throughout the entire show and even groups of wannabe Lisjana singers screaming into the microphone. Behind the deck is Deep G pumping out the funky beats supporting the vocal. He’s cool, in control and well connected to the set.
In total Groove State performed 5 never before heard tracks highlights included their next single Get Sexy (which had fans chanting oh oh oh oh oh) and rocked the stage with Do You Want My Love. A short break saw them again return to complete their final set, with more energy and receiving an even bigger reception from the crowd. Disco Disco also made its debut with the video clip playing on screens throughout the hotel. By far this track received enormous attention combining simple and expressive lyrics with clever remixed music. It’s definitely a catchy party time track that gets you grooving without you even realising it. Trust me!
If this performance is anything to go by, we can certainly expect bigger things from Groove State in 08. Their combination breaks the traditional electro barriers of DJ behind deck and go one better, offering clubbers a memorable new live performance experience. I recommend you check them out if you get the chance. Keep an eye out for the Groove State album released later this year, out through Play Lab Records Australia!
